Obama: Speak Up For Freedom Now!

By Don White

Tehran, Iran - Who’s right? The Hundreds of thousands of protesters wearing black and carrying candles joining opposition leader Mir Hossein Mousavi or Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, the repressive dictator who is killing the opposition?

Mousavi, his followers, the West, and even the Obama Administration believe Ahmadinejad stole the election but Mr. Obama won’t speak up for fear of “meddling.”

Meddling? What a tin horn word! It's like saying you won't swim for fear of drowning. Real men don't use that word, "meddling," Mr. President. Stop it now!

So what’s wrong with interfering in world affairs? I'd rather call it leading out. You lead the strongest nation in the history of the world. You have a right to get in people's faces. You, Barak Obama, wasn’t afraid of being called a "meddler" when you told Israel recently it must provide a homeland for Palestinians on the West Bank. Why the double standard? Of course, one cannot understand it until he understands who Barak Hussein Obama is, or whom, lately, he wants to portray.

The biggest venue for the protesters carrying black candles and wearing green wristbands was Imam Khomeini Square. Into this large plaza in the heart of the capital named for its founder of the Islamic Revolution walked hundreds of thousands of people carrying flowers in mourning for the dead who had been killed by Ahmadinejad’s henchmen. There was a line three miles long of partisans for Mousavi.

As you know better than anyone, his opponent, Ahmadbinejad, is a ruthless dictator and will do anything to maintain his authority. If they spoke English in Iran and if Western journalists were allowed to cover the event, many of the almost one million people in the march would tell the world “We’ve been had. The election was rigged, and not only Ahmadinejad, but the Mullahs, were complicit in this crime against mankind, this crime against free Iranian elections.

But again, we ask: Why hasn’t Obama spoken up, as Ronald Reagan did before the breakup of the Soviet Union? “Take down that wall, Mr. Gorbechev,” Reagan said time and time again on different occasions. But Mr. Obama apparently is not made of the same fabric as Ronald Reagan. Either he is afraid to speak up or he is complicit with Ahmadbinejad in some way that we shudder to even think about, that we understand not.

A participant said: "I remember one old man talking about how the will of the people has started and no one can stop it." Is that true, Mr. Obama? If so, what are you afraid of? Be a man, be a leader, be a patriot for freedom. Speak up for the cause of freedom everywhere, unless, of course, you are against freedom and are intent on becoming a tyrant dictator yourself, which we can’t believe, which we will never accept though some of the things you are doing to us and our grandchildren, the generational theft John McCain spoke of in the elections, is beginning to frighten many of us. This business of nationalizing banks, car companies, and health care bothers us. Is that socialism, Mr. President? We're starting to think you may socialize everything if we don't protest. So consider this article one of protest.

The Iranian protests are spreading. Germans are rallying over this election fraud. And you can soon expect Americans in large numbers and peoples from throughout the world will protest in large groups everywhere. Stay tuned on the Fourth of July. You will see protests all over America for freedom. We call them Tea Parties, remember the Boston Tea Party, Mr. President?

The world of freedom-loving people is inflamed, the people are angry over the illegal Iran election, Mr. President. Turn on your TV set, don't ask Bill Gibbs. Freedom is being chanted all over the world. Before long it will be in Communist China and North Korea too. But it needs a true world leader, it could use a boost. It needs you. It's really okay for you to speak out. President Bush did it just today. Do not let your heart be troubled, Mr. President, patriots do it all the time.

The movement toward world freedom is real. It is like a shooting star that gains momentum and power the longer it lights the sky. Imagine how feckless you will look if you become a follower instead of a world leader in this surge for freedom by people across the globe. History is writing either your ignominious epithet or your immortal praise.Catch this mega-comet, get out in front while there's still a chance.

If I were you, Mr. President, I'd soon become so terrified about being behind such a huge historical event instead of in front of it that I'd get on the bandwagon before people start booing you at your many townhouse appearances and other speaking engagements. Unless you speak out for freedom now, your popularity will wane. It already has. Get with it, Pres.
